Text on ‘free’ Office Mobile apps goes viral
On May 27 (May 28 Singapore time), Microsoft announced a number of new mobility-related apps and updates in the US, with Office for the iPad garnering the most attention from the media.
SingTel CEO Chua Sock Koong has been featured for saying the network provider should charge for WhatsApp and Skype services, then roundly vilified by users for attempting to charge customers for the service. The news has gone viral globally, leading the company to come out with a clarification on 27 February that it has suggested that WhatsApp, Skype and other ‘over the top’ providers should pay the money, and not the end-users themselves.
Vietnamese developer Dong Nguyen has created a new cash cow for himself. Flappy Bird is not just currently sitting at the top of the list on Apple App Store and Google Play, but has been generating on average $50,000 per day from in-app ads! A point to note here is Flappy Bird was launched back in May 2013.
