Samsung launches new 4K, full-HD monitors with ‘super slim’ bezels

Samsung Electronics Singapore on Thursday announced its latest lineup of monitors, which include Ultra High Definition (UHD) models and even narrower bezels than before.

The 28-inch UD590 is an ultra-HD (UHD) monitor that delivers detailed, lifelike images with the accurate colour representation. UHD provides four times the resolution of Full HD (FHD) displays and is capable of displaying one billion colors, which is 64 times more colors than the standard monitor. It also includes UHD up-scaling technology that converts low resolution content to UHD-level picture quality and creates sharper images.

The UD590 features advanced multitasking technology, with Samsung Picture in Picture (PIP) 2.0 that supports native sources resolution up to FHD and Picture by Picture (PBP) that connects two different PCs to one monitor screen with native resolutions.

It has a game mode option that easily makes a dark and blurry picture bright and clear, and provides a display port and two HDMI inputs to connect PCs and various AV devices. The UD590 supports UHD content from game consoles like Xbox one and PlayStation4 using HDMI port 1.4.

Samsung also launched the SD590, a 27-inch monitor that sports a nearly invisible, super narrow bezel to give users more screen space. The panel’s wide viewing angle enables users to experience consistent natural color and contrast ratio from any angle within 178 degrees. With Magic Upscale technology, users can experience better picture quality even with low resolution content as it prevents broken images when scaling to FHD. The SD590 also includes a game mode option and provides a D-sub and two HDMI inputs.

The price of the displays are as follows:

  • Samsung UD590: Available in 28” at $899
  • Samsung SD590: Available in 27” at $428
  • Samsung SD390: Available in 24” at $288
