Gigabyte launches gaming laptop with 4TB storage

Gigabyte has unveiled its lightest 15.6” gaming laptop, the Ultraforce P35W v2*. The new laptop promises a full gaming experience but without the bulk synonymous with mobile gaming hardware. Measuring 20.9mm in thickness and weighing 2.16 kg, the P35W v2 is 44% thinner and 10% lighter than other brands, Gigabyte says on its website.

The P35W v2 is souped up with a 4th-gen Intel Core i7 processor and the Nvidia GeForce GTX 870M GPU to render 3D graphics smoothly while maintaining peak power efficiency. The GPU runs up to 6GB of GDDR5 VRAM, scoring P7109 in 3DMark 11 tests.

The screen can be seen from any direction with a full HD anti-glare display that has 170°-plus wide viewing angle. The 72% colour gamut guarantees superb colour accuracy for immersive gameplay and multimedia entertainment. A Mini DisplayPort connects external displays of up to 4K while built-in sound optimisation and Blu-ray drive** support turns the P35W v2 into a mobile personal theatre.

The bundled Gigabyte Smart Manager allows the user to unparalleled control of various hardware features. For instance, Gigabyte Fan Tweak allows three fan speeds to be configured, while LAN Optimizer eliminates network latency and improves online gaming and/or web browsing by prioritising the desired type of packets according to user settings. LockWin Key allows Windows Key to be locked during gaming sessions, freeing gamers from interruptions in gameplay.

A hot-swappable ODD/HDD Bay adds flexibility for storage. Despite its slimness, this laptop accommodates quad-storage: either four SSDs for a maximum total capacity of 2TB, or two 512MB mSATA SSDs and two 1.5TB HDDs for a maximum capacity of 4TB**. The RAID 0 structure and mSATA SSD read/write rate at 1,000MB/s and 850MB/s respectively delivers serious performance for serious gamers.

All that power also requires optimal cooling, but that’s no problem for Gigabyte. Gigabyte’s exclusive Supra-Cool technology features dual thermal pipes plus two dedicated fans for the CPU and GPU respectively.
