Lenovo unveils new 4K resolution displays at CES 2014

As part of its CES 2014 line-up, Lenovo took the wraps off two new 4K resolution monitors. The ThinkVision Pro2840m is a 28-inch 4K (3840×2160 pixel resolution) display designed to offer performance (5ms response time), connectivity, integrated speakers and all-digital connections such DisplayPort, Mini DisplayPort and HDMI.

On its part, the ThinkVision 28 4K2K Smart Display monitor is powered by the latest Nvidia Tegra processor with integrated 10-point touch and a fully adjustable stand (0-90°). This is not your typical 4K resolution monitor however; it runs Android 4.4 under the hood. This allows the ThinkVision 28 to function as a standalone Android device for web surfing, gaming, watching videos, as well as accessing other apps found in the Google Play Store.

In my opinion, the ThinkVision 28 would make an excellent multi-purpose display for use as a touch-enabled monitor with my Windows 8 PC. When I’m in the mood, allow me to easily switch over to Android to play my favourite mobile games.

Another scenario could be that I have just finished working on a document and powered off the PC, but want to make some quick amendments. Assuming the appropriate cloud storage app is already installed, I could quickly access my documents via its built-in Wi-Fi and make the appropriate changes without having to power up the desktop again – saving me precious time!

The ThinkVision Pro2840m is priced at US$799 while the ThinkVision 28 would set you back by US$1,199. Below are the specifications as furnished to us by Lenovo.
